Tatamagouche Shambhala Group

The seed for the Tatamagouche Shambhala group was planted in 2012 by ten intrepid founders with a vision (or should we say “green thumb”). That seed has since blossomed into the Tatamagouche Shambhala Meditation Group, formally recognized by Shambhala International in 2015, and the membership as of February 2018 now totals 26.  The growth of our Group was made possibly in part by the generosity of a member from BC who purchased the Sunrise Mercantile property and offered us the use of the former restaurant space (2014), and a grant from the Mother Lineage fund (2015) that enabled us to purchase meditation cushions, various shrine objects and banners. So we now have a lovely space in which to practise meditation and offer classes, as well as welcome new meditators. We also have a warm and comfortable ‘living room’ setting for community discussion and get-togethers.

Our Coordinator is David Flint, a former Dalhousie sociology professor who is a prolific vegetable gardener, pickler and cook.

The Tatamagouche Shambhala Meditation Group is part of a world-wide network of over 200 “formally recognized” Shambhala groups and centres. However in communities where there are yet no formal groups or centres, many more Shambhala members and friends gather together in living rooms, to meditate together and discuss the dharma in many different languages.

If you are curious about Shambhala or would like to learn how to meditate, please join us. Wednesday evenings are open to all, and we periodically offer classes and talks you may enjoy. Please browse our Calendar and the Program and Events section for more information.
